I got tired of naming tools that didn't actually listen.
I'm Youngs Charlos, and Blend Names started as a tool I built for myself before it was a tool for anyone else.
A few years back I was helping a friend pick a name that blended hers and her partner's, and I went looking for a tool to speed up the brainstorm. What I found instead was a string of sites that felt the same: a wall of ads before you could type anything, a signup form for a "free" tool, and — once I finally got a result — names that didn't even sound like the words I'd typed. It felt like the tool wasn't really listening. It was just chopping letters in half and hoping.
That bugged me more than it probably should have. So I sat down and built my own version — one that actually pays attention to how two words or names sound together, not just how many letters they have. No ads blocking the input box. No account to make before you can see a result. Just the tool, doing the one job it's supposed to do.
What started as one tool became six
The first thing I built was the Word Combiner, mostly for naming my own side projects. Once the blending logic actually worked the way I wanted, it was a short step to build the Baby Name Combiner for that friend, then the Couple Name Combiner after enough people asked for one. The Nickname Finder came from wanting a shorter name for a name that wasn't common enough for the usual lookup-table tools to know. And the Gamertag Generator and Nickname Generator came later, once I noticed the same underlying problem — tools that don't actually use the word you gave them — showing up in gaming and social profiles too.
What I was trying to fix
Every tool on this site is my attempt to fix one specific thing that bothered me about the tools that came before it: blends that don't sound like real words, nicknames pulled from a fixed list instead of the actual name you typed, gamertags with no trace of your real name left in them, decorated text that shows up as broken little boxes on someone else's phone. You can read the specific fix on each tool's own page — I tried to keep the claims honest and checkable rather than just saying "better."
